PLASTIC RESEARCH 1
TITLE: Materials telling stories.
WHAT: NulamTM is a vibrant, colorful material created from recycled post-consumer plastic. It’s focus is on the aesthetic potential of recycled composites, as a way to build the value of plastic past a hated material into something beautiful, and worthy of consideration.
HOW: Plastic containers are collected and melted into dense, smooth slabs that produce completely unique patterns with every piece. Within its patterns, NulamTM hints at the story of its own creation.
WHY: Plastic’s bad reputation comes from a low social incentive to properly recycle. NulamTM can be recycled up to five times, inspiring a shift away from single-use plastics and towards a model of sustained reuse.
